Conservación: Buen estado general. El volumen ha sido revisado por completo. La encuadernación en pergamino original se mantiene sólida. El interior muestra algo de tostado y ligeras manchas ocasionales, sin afectar la legibilidad. Anteportada con anotación manuscrita de época con perforaciones por la tinta. Se debe notar la falta de la última hoja del índice y faltas de papel en margen inferior de las dos últimas hojas de índice afectando un poco al texto. Notas: Este es un ejemplar raro y de gran interés histórico de la Primera Edición del "Compendio de las Historias de los Descubrimientos, Conquistas, y Guerras de la India Oriental, y sus Islas." de José Martínez de la Puente, publicado en 1681. Es una fuente primaria invaluable para el estudio de la expansión europea en Asia y los conflictos por el control de las rutas comerciales y territorios en la India Oriental. Martínez de la Puente relata la historia del imperio portugués en Oriente hasta el año 1600, basando su obra en diversos autores portugueses, destacando a João de Barros. Es particularmente notable la inclusión de un capítulo dedicado a Brasil: "tierra donde es, y su descripción y descubrimiento, costumbre de sus gentes". El Capítulo VI (páginas 40-50) contiene un relato del descubrimiento de las Molucas, junto con descripciones de las Filipinas y Nueva Guinea.
