Cf. Sabin 12361-12365 for the original editions of Checkley's writings. Ex-historical society library, with bookplate on pastedowns, an small paper labels on spines, else a very good copy. Contemporary brown three-quarter roan (rubbed, especially at joints, edges bumped), gilt, and marbled boards and endpapers, gilt title and rules between raised bands on spine, t.e.g., original printed wrappers bound in. The outspoken American clergyman John Checkley (1680-1754) secretly authored and printed this pamphlet (while being tried and convicted for prior seditious writings against the Puritans.
