Nevertheless, no proper responses have been made by companies to motivate, on the one hand, the Generation Y employees and, on the other hand, women to take over more responsibility and occupy a management position. One of the most important job specifications for the Generation Y and women, however, is the so called work-life balance, so employers must use work-life balance issues as incentives in recruiting.As a consequence, this thesis correlates both topics and investigates the applicability of the concept of part-time work on the management level. In so doing, the specific focus on managers was chosen due to the fact that companies have a great interest in forming a lasting bond with this kind of highly qualified specialists and, therefore, are required to take better account of their needs regarding the working time management. Furthermore, reductions in working time at management level can help the labour market to reduce the gender segregation by attracting more women to top positions.The crux of the thesis will therefore be to investigate the practicability of part-time management and to solve the following question: How does the current situation of part-time managers in Europe look like and what should companies do for a successful implementation.…

A micro-approach to analyzing the innovation behavior of nine MNEs in two advanced European economies, Germany and the UK, was applied, which has revealed key channels through which IAs are enhanced in the innovation processes of multinationals and has described their spatial roots and impact. Seit einigen Jahren bestimmt die Förderung von Clustern mit hoher Intensität die regionale Wirtschaftspolitik und Wirtschaftsförderung in Deutschland: die Fokussierung auf Standortbündelungen und Branchenkompetenz als Strategieansatz hat sich in vielen Regionen durchgesetzt (KÜPPER/RÖLLINGHOFF 2005). Doch während es an Handlungsanleitungen zur erfolgreichen Umsetzung von Clusterpolitik und Best-Practice Studien nicht mangelt, steht der eindeutige Beleg der Effekte von Clusterpolitik noch aus: 'We know that there has been a proliferation of cluster development programs, but we know little about the performance of such programs [.]' (ENRIGHT 2003). Die Evaluierung von regionaler Clusterpolitik stellt trotz der Etablierung des Clusterkonzepts als Leitidee moderner Wirtschaftsförderung ein bislang unzureichend beachtetes Themenfeld in Forschung und Praxis dar. Aufgrund der spezifischen Natur des Clusterkonzepts und der Clusterpolitik erweist sich die Evaluierung deutlich komplexer als die Bewertung einzelner Instrumente der Wirtschaftsförderung. Die Entwicklung wissenschaftlich fundierter und praxistauglicher Evaluierungsansätze ist dennoch unabdingbar. Im Spannungsfeld von theoretischem Anspruch und praktischer Realität der Evaluierung von regionaler Clusterpolitik geht diese Arbeit der Frage nach, welche Ansätze sich für die Adressierung der großen Herausforderungen derartiger Evaluierungen eignen und zu einer Verbesserung der Bewertung von Fördermaßnahmen führen können.
