Marking and rubbing to boards, wear to corners, chipping to edges. A few marks to title page. Small hole to lower margin of the title page and first page of Foreword. Patches of foxing to text. Pages 157-160 have a small area of damage to outer margin, it appears that something was closed into the book here and there is a corresponding indentation to the outer margin diminishing over approx. 120 pages. French language. An English language translation was issued in 1849 as 'Essay Upon the Theory of Gun Carriages, and all Wheel Carriages in use with Artillery'. Inked note to title page: 'Taken out of the Citadel Bagdad on April 20th 1917 by me. J.H. Howell-Jones. Lt. Col. A.O.D.' A very scarce artillery title. Overall condition is Very Good Minus.
