Sale includes Madame de Pompadour's copy of Homer inscribed by William Morris to Burne-Jones. Copies held by the Grolier Club and Univ. of Indiana (WorldCat) and the National Trust (COPAC).

20pp., 4to. Stapled. In original card wraps printed in black and red. 317 lots. Worn and aged and with central vertical crease to volume. Central bifolium loose. Advertisement for the auctioneers on inside front cover, and 'Time Table' on inside rear. A second day's sale, on the following day, is advertised as featuring 'The Furniture, Unique Collection of Japanese Works of Art, Bronzes, Old English and Continental Porcelain etc.' In margin of page with conditions of sale is pencil list of the booksellers, headed by 'Museum Book Store (Spencer's man)' and featuring E. Joseph, Quaritch, Batsford, Spencer, Maggs, J. Bumpus, H. Stevens, Sotheran, Edwards, Thorp and J. H. Joseph. Variant interpretation possible. Either Prices fetched are in the right-hand margin, and what appear to be the bids of the owner of the catalogue in the left-hand margin. Or the right-hand margin's figures represent the hammer prices, while the left-hand column lists the knockout prices. I fancy the latter. My learned cataloguer the former. Occasional traces of a bidding code. The collection is strong in history and art. An incongruous item, which fetched £12 against the catalogue owner's bid of £10 12s 6d, is '282 NUREMBERG CHRONICLE, Chronicon Nurembergense, Auctore Hartmann Schledel, numerous woodcuts, russia, gilt edges, 1493, fine copy'. A scarce item: no copies found on either COPAC or OCLC WorldCat.

No date of publication on title page, illustrations and designs on page 1indicate 1870's. pp un numbered, frontis + [4 ] + 711 items illustrated some pages with a single item, some with multiple items. Head and tail of spine slightly rubbed, boards spotted. Tight and clean. Good hardback in publishers original brown cloth with gilt decoration and lettering.

Bookplate of the Incorporation of Architects in Scotland Sir Rowand Anderson library bequest. The contents clean and tight with no inscriptions or marks. Printed card covers with photo insert of the house to upper flap, chipping to head and tail of the spine the binding clean and tight. Some early strengthening I part to inner cover edges not visible when viewed from the front or rear. A 3-day sale in August 1910 of 1908 lots of the collection of the Late Vincent Robinson sold on the premises. Includes rare old English Italian and Flemish furniture, tapestries, arms and Armour Persian carpets embroideries the library of books, stained glass panel's etc.

The contents clean and tight with no inscriptions or marks. Publishers brown cloth binding gilt title to upper cover within gilt borders blind stamp to rear board. some discoloration to the cloth in places, the binding tight with no splits. All the items numbered and a contents index, I would assume there was a seperate price list published. A very good copy of what must be an up market cataloge for quality Victorian furnitue.including, mirrors, beds, tables chairs etc.
