Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. First Dutch edition (17921793) of Johann Jacob Grabner's influential travel account of the Dutch Republic, translated from the German edition published the same year. Complete with four contemporary hand-coloured costume plates depicting traditional dress from Friesland, Hindeloopen, Zaandam and Zuid-Beveland, among the earliest coloured ethnographic costume illustrations of the Dutch provinces. (Landwehr 286).Rarely found with the separately issued supplement (1793), containing Grabner's remarkable open letter sharply criticizing the Dutch translator and defending his original text.Full leather binding with guilt decorations and on the spine the gilt text "J.Grabner, brieven".
