Mit Berufung auf Pestalozzi wird hierbei die Bedeutung der manuellen Arbeit für jeden Einzelnen sowie für die Gesellschaft hervorgehoben: Arbeit sei Charakterbildung, "Formgebung des ganzen Menschen von innen heraus". Ihre versittlichende Wirkung zeige sich in der Entstehung eines Arbeitsethos. Aus dem Geiste der Arbeitsgemeinschaft erwachse die Versittlichung des großen Gemeinwesens.
