In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Fine. First Edition. Oblong folio, cream canvas; issued without a dust jacket Art critic Franz Schulze included Golub among a collection of artists he named the "Monster Roster" for their use of "gruesome, expressive figuration, fantasy and mythology, and existential thought." And that art had to show a connection to the real world to be relevant to a viewer or to society. Monster Roster was a precursor to the Chicago Imagists. He likened his painting process to sculptural technique and employed a method of layering and scraping away paint, sometimes using a meat cleaver, leaving varying amounts of canvas untouched, a violently expressionistic style that Golub dubbed 'barbaric realism".Black and white reproductions throughout.…
