This book brings together over sixty sets of beads, each one unique and particular to the specific volume from which it has been created. Titles as far-ranging as Gandhi's autobiography, Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar, The Beano Book and Che Guevara's Bolivian Diaries form a selection of the printed matter used by the artist to create a rich and stirring collection of objects. With the inclusion of two short pieces of writing by the artist, this beautifully considered book underlines Gill's subtle brilliance as an artist of outstanding breadth and imagination.

About the book >.>.> The railway station at Tanjong Pagar was built in 1932 as the southernmost terminus for the Federated Malay States Railway Originally known as the Keppel Road Terminus, the station was designed in the Modern Style by D. S. Petrovich, a Serbian architect of British training then in the employ of the firm of Swan & Maclaren in Singapore. The building, made from reinforced concrete, is thought to have been influenced by Eliel Saarinen's Helsinki Railway Station, which was completed in 1914. An entry in the Online Architecture Index for Singapore reads: "One of the objectives of the British Administration in that time [1930s] was to erect grandiose and impressive structures to impress the natives!"
