Title page dated 1936 in roman numerals (MCMXXXVI), no date on copyright page. Final page designates this a limited edition, hand-numbered 1104 of 1500 copies printed. This edition was designed by Eric Gill, who composed a new type just for this book. Limited edition page is signed by Eric Gill, and the illustrator, Denis Tegetmeier. 135 pages. Lachenmaier, with gilt titles to spine and upper, and decoration blocked in gilt to upper. All edges gilt, with dark grey endpapers. Together with the essay volume, pp.48, with a photographic frontispiece and black and white illustrations in-text. Publisher's black quarter buckram, with grey paper over boards, a plain paper title label to upper, and grey endpapers. Presented in the publisher's black cloth-covered clamshell box, titled in gilt to spine. Just a touch of light handling. Near fine.

Lower board of "Julius Caesar" stained otherwise cover cloth clean and bright; ownership inscription dated '37 to the same volume otherwise no annotation or inscriptions. Some jackets toned to spine, with a few nicks & creases; minor loss at tail of spine of several volumes over the set. "Julius Caesar" jacket price clipped with paper tape repairs to reverse, 6 cm tear with associated small loss, and stains to rear and "Antony and Cleopatra" repaired to reverse with browned adhesive tape. A very good set in like jackets. Scarce as a complete set in this condition. Heavyweight so a contribution towards increased postage costs will be requested for overseas delivery.
