First edition thus (STS 4th series, No. 16). xx, 248pp. Gilbert Hay (born c.1403, last mentioned in 1456) was a Scottish poet and translator, and perhaps a kinsman of the house of Errol. His only poetic work is 'The Buik of King Alexander the Conquerour', of whi…ch a portion, in copy, formerly at Taymouth Castle, now lies in the National Records of Scotland. Another copy, believed to be an earlier version, on which the Taymouth copy is based, can be found at the British Library. The present book is a more accessible version of both, with a detailed textual analysis of the differences. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The book comes in a clear plastic wrapper, as issued.

Unlike other magazines, this so-called "newsletter" was distributed via a mailing list, many of which were noted poets, journalists, critics, publishers and artists. For this reason, most copies were hand addressed or affixed with a mailing label and stamp, and folded for mailing. This is is remarkably pristine with no writing, stamp or label. Contributions from Robert Grosseteste, James Waring, Julian Beck, John Thomas, Frank O'Hara, Gerard Malanga, John Herbert McDowell, Gilbert Sorrentino and Fielding Dawson.
