Note in ink on fly leaf: "This book, containing the card of Mrs. Lewis Miller (his mother) received May 12, 1900. [signed with initials] A St. B" (?), [card no longer present]. Theodore Miller was shot through the lungs in the attack on San Juan Hill and shortly after died. Miller graduated from Yale, other comments by the the editor give some idea of social class of men that were part of Roosevelt's Rough Riders.

In good condition, with slight creasing and discoloration at foot. He is sending a receipt for Hill-Trevor's 'entrance fee and subscription to this Society', and discusses subscription matters. Head's letter: 2pp., 12mo. Very good, on lightly-aged paper. The letter begins: 'Dear Sir, | You were duly elected at our last Meeting and on the following day I sent to you at 25 Belgrave Square [address of 'George Hill'] a notification of its [sic] fact together with a copy of the Rules and a Card of the dates of Meetings.' He asks Hill whether he would like to give another address, for printing in the list of members in the 'Numismatic Chronicle'.

Twelve chromolithographic illustrations on eleven leaves. Bookplate on the front pastedown of Frederick DuCane Godman (1834-1919) an English lepidopterist, entomologist and ornithologist. He was one of the twenty founding members of the British Ornithologists' Union. He closely studied the fauna and flora of Central America and had several plants name after him, he also collected Iznik, Hispano-Moresque and early Iranian pottery. He corresponded with other scientists of his time including Charles Darwin and lived at South Lodge, Lower Beeding where his ceramics collection was kept. The so called 'first series' is the first work on carpets in English, and not to be confounded with the very similar, but later, work from 1893 (second series), which is much more common than the first series from 1882. Faint foxing to endpapers, cloth a little mottled, with some wear and slight splitting at lower spine, overall sound, near very good with very clean text and plates.

The present collection offers a window into the literary world of American poet and humorist Ogden Nash (19021971). It is comprised of 239 volumes published between 1886 and 1971, among which are numerous presentation and association copies. All books in the present collection come from the shared personal library of Ogden and Frances Nash. The collection spans poetry, humor, light verse, and literary criticism, and includes a significant number of first and limited editions, often in original bindings or dust jackets. Of particular note are six books inscribed by Nash to his wife, Frances (including five authored by Nash, one of which is in an "Author's Copy" half-leather binding). Included in the collection are 59 works by Nash, three of which feature edits to the text in Nash's hand. Twenty-seven of these Nash publications are Author's copies bound in half-leather. There are an additional 48 volumes bearing inscriptions to Nash from other authors and poets, most notably twelve volumes inscribed by S.J. Perelman. Among the 132 uninscribed volumes included here, 45 bear Ogden Nash's ownership inscription (10 bear the ownership inscription of Frances Nash).
