In den Warenkorb2pp., 12mo. Bifolium. In fair condition, lightly-aged. 'I shipped on yesterday to you through Mr J. D. Brink Jr Forwarding Merchant of this city a box containing 4 Oil Pictures which I wish you to expose for sale at your Exhibition Rooms. | The titles and prices of the same will be given you by my friend Mr G. du Mourier. Please let me know when they come to hand.' The Berner's Street Gallery's association with American artists would continue: in the following decade it would gain notoriety for exhibiting Whistler's 'Symphony in White, No. 1'. The Cosmopolitan Art Journal for June 1859 contains a reference to 'Mr. Henry Turner, a promising Virginia artist' studying at Düsseldorf. There is another reference, in Mary Elizabeth Hite's memoir 'My Rappahannock Story Book' (1950), to 'Mr. Henry Turner, artist, and member of a fine old family, [who] had returned from Germany where he had gone to study.'.

Hardcover. Zustand: VERY GOOD. First Edition. xii, 483pp. Sewn binding in red cloth hard covers with gilt-lettered spine and front cover. 16 B/W photos throughout. Tips worn. Owner's name and inscription to FFEP. Speckled ink stains to end papers and front matter. Small stain to back of front cover. 'This is a history of the evolution of financial power in the United States since 1900. It shows to what extent this vial power became concentrated, what sort of men wielded in, what instruments of conquest they used, and what were the economic and social effects of their preeminence in American life. In a sense the book is the story of Wall Street and all that it (and the other nuclei of financial power) represented. In another sense it is the story of the American upper class. In another, broader sense it is the story of the economic changes which led inevitably to the crash of 1929 and the lean years of the ninteen-thirties [sic]: the story of how we reached the plight we are now in.'.
