Vintage photograph of actor Freddie Bartholomew and his aunt Millicent Mary Bartholomew in 1937. Reference library stamp on verso, dated April 7, 1937, along with a provenance stamp. Bartholomew was an English-American child actor whose career was active mostly in the 1930s. His most well-known film roles were "Little Lord Fauntleroy" (1936), "Captain Courageous" (1936), and "David Copperfield" (1935). This photograph was likely taken during a highly-publicized custody battle between Bartholomew's parents and his aunt. The court ruled in favor of his aunt in late 1937. 10 x 8 inches. Good, with two tears along the right edge, and two lightly rusted staples at the top margin.

Based on the 1886 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. After a young boy's father dies, he and his American mother go to England where his paternal grandfather was an Earl. Though the boy is the only heir to the title, his mother is sent home, until another young boy claims to be the true heir. The first film produced by Selznick International Pictures. Set in 1880s Brooklyn, New York and England. Photographs 6 x 4 inches. Fine. Envelopes 5.25 x 4.25 inches.
