Definitive recordings by one of the greatest performers of avant-garde piano music (and a gifted composer as well). REPERTOIRE: [Xenakis] Herma (1960-61, dedicated to Yuji Takahashi); [Reynolds] Fantasy for Pianist (1963-64); [Y. Takahashi] Metatheses (1968); [Brown] Corroboree (1963-64). CONDITION: The LP is remarkably quiet, showing a bit more surface noise (with occasional light pops and crackles) in the Xenakis track. I'm tempted to grade this copy as Very Good Plus but prefer to grade it more conservatively as VG. Its jacket is bright, solid, and unmarked, with moderate shelf-wear and a couple small areas where the clear lamination has loosened. The LP is now in a new audiophile inner sleeve (replacing the plain original) and the entire album is nestled in a strong mylar outer sleeve.
