Sheet size 270 x 216mm, with image size 218 x 186mm, captioned in French and Arabic. Very good condition with light handling wear. This may be a copy print, suggested by the caption pasted on to negative and printed out, probably by Dumas himself, as his details have been retained. Dumas (1830-1905) was an Italian photographer of French descent. He trained with Leopoldo Alinari in Florence. Some accounts state that he opened a studio in Beirut in 1860, others that he opened it in Constantinople first in the 1860s before moving to Beirut in 1867, the same year as Felix Bonfils. He was active until 1890.
