Album of views in Egypt and Palestine, mostly by Zangaki and Arnoux. The majority of images are of Egypt, including Alexandra, Cairo, the Pyramids, the Egyptian museum, Egyptian antiquities, mosques, the Nile, Port Said, Heliopolis, and Suez Canal. In the Holy Land, the photographs taken by Zangaki brothers are rare. It is known that the majority of Zangaki's production was taken in Egypt, however these prints gives a new insight on the Holy Land by the very well known Greek photographers. The views of the Holy Land depict Jaffa, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Bethany (total images 38). #30327.

Silwan is a predominantly Palestinian neighbourhood on the outskirts of the Old City of Jerusalem, which also includes a small Jewish minority among it's residents.… Silwan began as a farming village, dating back to the 7th century, while the earliest mention of the village is from the year 985, when it was first mentioned in the writings of the medieval Arab geographer Al-MuqaddasÄ«. Silwan is located southwest of the Old City Walls and constitutes part of the Jerusalem's 'Holy Basin' (the geographical area of Jerusalem that includes the Old City and its adjacent territories). In the beginning of the 20th century it's population was about 500 people.

"place of Lazarus"), site of the reputed Tomb of Lazarus, about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to the east of Jerusalem on the south-eastern slope of the Mount of Olives.
