Marie Josephine de Suin (1829-1899) married to become Countess Diana Beausacq, though in literary circles she is known as Countess Diana. Her work 'Maxims of Life' was first published in 1884, and consists of a series of li…fe lessons, or rules of conduct. There is a preface by Sully Prudhomme. The book is bound (by Hatchards of Picadilly) in contemporary full leather boards with gold titling and five raised bands on the spine. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with slight age-browning to the pages. There is no inscription.
