In the publisher's original cloth binding. This is Vol I to Vol X of a 15-volume set on the History of Northumberland, written by four different authors and issued under the direction of the Northumberland County History Committee. All volumes contain a frontispiece, numerous illustrations in the text and a colour map (Vol IV's colour map is a folding map). Vol I contains 14 plates; Vol II contains 21 plates; Vol III contains 15 plates; Vol IV contains 18 plates; Vol V contains 25 plates; Vol VI contains 21 plates; Vol VII contains 17 plates; Vol VIII contains 17 plates; Vol IX contains 6 plates; and Vol X contains 11 plates. All collated and complete. In Vol I, VII, VIII and IX are order forms for the set, loosely inserted to the front of the volumes. In Vol IV is a list of subscribers. Vol I covers The Parish of Bamburgh with the Chapelry of Belford; Vol II covers The Parishes of Embleton, Ellingham, Howick, Long Houghton, Lesbury; Vol III contains Hexhamshire: Part I; Vol IV contains Hexhamshire: Part II (Hexham, Whitley Chapel, Allendale, and St. John Lee) and the Parish of Chollerton, the Chapelry of Kirkheaton and the Parish of Thockrington; Vol V covers The Parish of Warkworth, the Parish of Shilbottle, the Chapelry or Extra-Parochial Place of Brainshaugh; Vol VI covers The Parish of Bywell St Peter, the Parish of Bywell St Andrew with Blanchland and the Chapelry of Slaley; Vol VII covers The Parish of Edlingham with the Chapelry of Bolton, the Parish of Felton with the Chapelry of Framlington and the Chapelry or Parish of Brinkburn; Vol VIII covers The Parish of Tynemouth; Vol IX covers The Parochial Chapelries of Earsdon and Houghton and Vol X covers The Parish of Corbridge. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, all volumes are smart with good colour. Vol I has some losses to the head of the spine and the cloth is lifting. A little staining to the front boards of Vols III and IV, and to the spines of Vols II and III. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, but with some spotting to the first few pages, the plates and the fore edge, which affects the occasional page. There is a small closed tear to the folding map, which does not affect the image. Very Good. book.
