Il complète et amplifie ici les annonces faites dans ses "Mémoires" de 1784-86, réaffirme que le différence majeure entre le somnambulisme artificiel et naturel réside dans le phénomène de dépendance du sujet magnétisé par rapport au magnétiseur dans le cas du somnambulisme artificiel.
