"Erste deutsche Ausgabe. ? Im Oxford Dictionary of National Biography liest es sich etwas anders: "The miscellaneous writer William Thomson (1746-1817) edited Buchanan's Travels .` from a huge mass of material and, without Buchanan's knowledge, inserted some severe criticisms of the Scottish clergy and others which Buchanan in his General View of the Fishery of Great Britain` (1794) indignantly disclaimed. The quarrel between the two men was aired in public and Buchanan seems to have come off worse. There is no record of Buchanan after 1816." (VIII, S. 483) ? Einband fleckig und bestoßen; innen kaum fleckig. ?Engelmann II, S. 567; Price. English Humaniora. S. 34; Griep/Luber I, 191; VD18 11447613.".…
