First edition, third printing (1946). First published in 1942, this printing is revised and updated. Wrappers. Near very good copy, edges of wrappers rubbed, front wrapper's lower tip chipped and another very small chip in the right-hand edge. Contents very good. This third edition has been updated and has a colophon leaf at the rear explaining the changes. A chapter on jazz was added. "The added chapter on jazz and some few amendments to Bob Kinney's manuscript original manuscript, made necessary by the advance of history in Europe, the Pacific, and the French Quarter are from the typewriter of Tilden Landry" This edition retains the hand-carved linoleum block illustrations by Eugenia and Bob Riley. A visual knockout that could not be matched by the much later reprint. The last page, a blank, is covered with a pencil dedication to one "Brer Rabbit Creekmore, with our combined love" signed by a dozen or so of his friends. This edition was printed by the Ex-Cel Printery in Gretna, Louisiana.
