Original elaborately blind- and gilt-stamped maroon cloth, top edge gilt; rubbed. Very good. Swiss folk art is covered with chapters on or covering wood work (furniture, chalets), costumes, textiles, metal work, pottery & glassware, toys, stone lamps, masks, jewellery, stoves, stained glass, etc. Significant in the art world in Switzerland, Baud-Bovy was curator of the Rath Museum, director of the school of fine arts in Geneva (from 1908 to 1919), president of the Federal Commission of fine arts, artistic correspondent of the Encyclopedique Review, poet, author of numerous novels, and short stories often illustrated by his painter friends and children's plays. He was also a mountain climber.

All of the pages are intact and the cover is intact and the spine may show signs of wear. The book may have minor markings which are not specifically mentioned. A good condition book. An ex-library rebind into green hardcover boards with the usual amount of stamps. No dust jacket. Light shelf wear. A crack to the hinge beside the front board but it remains secure. A little dust darkening to the textblock edges. The internal contents show a typical amount of tanning and age, but also remain unfaded and well-bound with a handsome collection of illustrations.
