Signed by Governor General Athlone, Deputy Minister of National Defence Desrosiers, and 2nd Lieutenant Clarence Christensen of the Canadian Army. Witnessed and signed Juy 1, 1942. Ink stamp top right. Online search suggests Christensen was from Quebec, married in Montreal in 1941, and eventually became a major. Earl of Athlone was Governor General of Canada 1940-46.

No Binding. Zustand: Very Good. John Smith (illustrator). A fine engraved mezzotint portrait printed circa 1750. Mounted/matted and ready to frame - though it may be too large to send matted outside the UK. A fine opportunity to purchase an unusual and attractive engraving of Godert de Ginkel, 1st Earl of Athlone engraved by John Smith, after Sir Godfrey Kneller. Ginkel commanded a body of horses at the battle of the Boyne (1690), and on the King's return to England was left as commander-in-chief in Ireland. In 1692 he was created Earl of Athlone.

Mezzotint, face and hand in pink, trimed to image, some small tears to title, now repaired, faint mark in top left hand corner, General Godert de Ginkel accompanied William III to England in 1688. He fought at the Battle of the Boyne and captured Athlone.
