Hardcover. Zustand: Very good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very good. Saskia Paulussen (Author photograph) (illustrator). Third Printing [stated]. xviii, 301, [1] pages. Footnotes. Figure. Appendix I through IV. List of Contributors. Index. Author inscription on the half-title page. The inscription reads To Kathy--Keep up the great work and thanks for your efforts on behalf of the War for the Free World. Frank 5 Dec 06. Foreword by R. James Woolsey. Introduction by Victor Davis Hanson. Among the colleagues are Daniel Goure, Andrew McCarthy, Roscoe Bartlett, Curt Weldon, Al Santoli, Paul Vallely and Bruce Herschensohn. Frank J. Gaffney Jr. (born April 5, 1953) is the founder and former president of the Center for Security Policy (CPS). Gaffney began his government career in the 1970s, working as an aide in the office of Democratic Senator Henry M. Jackson, under Richard Perle. From August 1983 until November 1987, Gaffney held the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Forces and Arms Control Policy in the Reagan administration, again serving under Perle In the 1970s and 1980s, he worked for the federal government in multiple posts, including as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Forces and Arms Control Policy from 1983 to 1987, and seven months as Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs during the Reagan administration. He then founded the CSP in 1988, serving as its president until 2023, thereafter as executive chairman. America has been at war for years, but until now, it's not been clear with whom. We have been fighting without being clear for what. We have been waging war without using the full resources we need to win. With the publication of War Footing, Frank Gaffney and his colleagues make it clear not only whom the enemy is and how high the stakes are, but also how we can prevail. Their book explains that we are engaged in nothing less than a War for the Free World - a fight to the death with Islamofascists who adhere to a political ideology bent on our destruction. It then offers ten specific steps that Americans, as individuals and as communities, can take to ensure our way of life and the safety and well-being of our children. These steps include specific recommendations about how to know the enemy, support our troops, provide for our energy security, stop investing in terror, equip the country for war at home, counter an EMP attack, secure our borders and interior against illegal immigration, wage political warfare, launch regional initiatives, and wield effective diplomacy. This definitive, highly readable "owner's manual" for the War for the Free World has been written by one of the most prominent national security experts of our time, Frank J. Gaffney, and his extraordinary team of respected experts. Among them are R. James Woolsey, Victor Davis Hanson, Generals Tom McInerney, USAF (Ret.) and Alex Alexiev, Claudia Rosett, Michael Rubin, Caroline Glick, Michael Waller, and many others. Excerpts from the Institute of World Politics (IWP) on-line posting: America has been at war for years, but until now, it has not been clear with whom or precisely for what. And we have not been using the full resources we need to win. With the publication of War Footing, lead-authored by Frank Gaffney with chapters on political warfare and hemispheric security by IWP Annenberg Professor J. Michael Waller, it not only becomes clear who the enemy is and how high the stakes are, but also exactly how we can prevail. War Footing shows that we are engaged in nothing less than a War for the Free World. This is a fight to the death with Islamist extremists driven by a totalitarian political ideology that, like Nazism or Communism before it, is determined to destroy freedom and the people who love it. Adversaries and likely future enemies include the People's Republic of China and militant dictatorships in Latin America. Gaffney and his colleagues offer ten specific steps that Americans, as individuals and as communities, can take to ensure their way of life and safety and the future well-being of their children.

Zustand: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Seiten: 264 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Reconceptualizing Curriculum Development provides accessible, clear guidance on curriculum problem solving and educational leadership through the practice of a synoptic curriculum study. This practice integrates three influential interpretations of curriculum-curriculum as deliberative artistry, curriculum as complicated conversation, and curriculum as currere-with John Dewey's lifetime work on reflective inquiry. At its heart, the book advances a way of studying as a way of living with reference to the question: How might I live as a democratic educator? The study guidance is organized as an open-ended scaffolding of three embedded reflective inquiries informed by four deliberative conversations. Study recommendations are provided by a carefully selected team. The field-tested study-based approach is illustrated through a multi-layered, multi-voiced narrative collage of four experienced teachers' personal journeys of understanding in a collegial study context. Applying William Pinar's argument that a "conceptual montage" enabling teachers to lead complicated conversations should be the focus for curriculum development in the field's current 'post-reconceptualist' moment, the book moves forward the educational aim of facilitating a holistic subject/self/social understanding through the practice of a balanced hermeneutics of suspicion and trust. It closes with a discussion of cross-cultural collaboration and advocacy, reflecting the interest of curriculum scholars in a wide range of countries in this study-based, lead-learning approach to curriculum development.
