A smart edition of 'Lalla Rookh'.Illustrated with a frontispiece, and many illustrations throughout, in half-tone, most of which are incorporated into the text.The poem tells the story of Lalla Rookh, who is engaged to a young king, but falls in love with the poet Feramorz. 'Lalla Rookh' boosted Moore's already promising poetical reputation, making his poetry rival that of Lord Byron and Walter Scott.Illustrated title page giving the publisher as Estes and Lauriat, Boston, the typed title page stating George Routledge and Sons, London.Thomas Moore was an Irish poet, best known for his poems 'The Minstrel Boy' and 'The Last Rose of Summer' as well as for being the literary executor for Lord Byron, thus burning Byron's memoirs after his death.Illustrations were drawn, reproduced, and printed under the supervision of Fred H.
