In den WarenkorbHardcover. 8vo. pp. [ii], 63, [iii]. Contemporary dark blue buckram lettered gilt on spine. From the library of Allan Heywood Bright (1862 1941) Liberal politician, distinguished book collector and author of books on Middle English with his pictorial/armorial bookplate (by Downey) on the front pastedown showing coats of arms and the motto 'Post Tenebras Lucem' and a view of a valley with hills beyond, a church and a rising sun. Bound-in hand written signed letter from J. R. Chancellor to 'Dear Allan' written on headed note paper from Government House, Mauritius and dated 22. 2. 13 consisting of about 130 words in which he refers to Bright's interest in papers or laws dealing with the subject of disposal of property by will. He explains that the Code Napoleon in Mauritius was amended and passed last year and this has proved to be most unpopular. He encloses a copy of the debate and the amending Ordinance which he does not rate highly. Pages 48-50 include J. E. Chancellor's contribution to the debate. First leaf folded. Upper cover very slightly rubbed. Very slight rubbing, otherwise very good indeed.
