Ex-Library copy, with expected inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Clean pages and illustrations with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. Moderate tanning to free endpaper and tile page due to dust jacket flaps. Front free endpaper is missing. Moderate tape marks to pastedown and hinges. The hinges are slightly cracked with exposed netting. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Lettering is bright and clear. Boards are bowed. Visible wear marks to boards.

The cover and spine panel are shabby but, the interior has retained its brightness and there are no dogeared or torn pages. The binding is sound. 94 pages illustrated throughout by full-page four-tone pictures, by Garry MacKenzie.

Bright yellow cloth-covered boards with black stamping of two elephants on the front cover, and black lettering on the spine. Bottom corners are bumped and beginning to fray. Blue and illustrated DJ of two elephants with black lettering on the front cover and spine. DJ is placed inside a plastic protective Brodart. Edges and corners are chipped but the illustration remains eye catching. Writing and school rubber stamp to front endpapers -- someone has written "library book", but I see no other library markings to indicate that. No date on title page. Copyright page is dated 1955. 92 pages. Interiors are clean and unmarked. Handsome black-and-white and green illustrations of elephants on every other page. Overall, a good copy. Goudey's two primary interests of education and environmental conservation are well illustrated in this small volume. Please email with questions or to request photos.
