However, it is also imperative for the government to reduce losses in the grain management at the centre and state levels, during the process of procurement, storage, and public distribution system. In this regard, the present study also analyses factors driving these losses in the food grain management system in India through secondary data analysis and case studies of different storage types. The book also traces the role of private investment in storage infrastructure to reduce post-harvest losses in India.
