Boats and native Egyptian types on the Nile river coast. Abdullah Brothers [Abdullah Biraderler) were a group of three Ottoman brothers of Armenian descent, Viçen Abdullahyan (1820-1902), Hovsep Abdullahyan (1830-1908), and Kevork Abdullahyan (1839-1918), who were photographers of international fame during the late Ottoman Empire. In 1886, at the request of the Khedive in Egypt, they opened a branch in Cairo, Egypt.

Album grand in-folio oblong, demi-chagrin à coins (reliure de l'époque). Par Abdullah Frères, A. Beato, P. Sébah, Luigi Fiorillo, la plupart signées, légendées voire numérotées dans l'image.Les frères Abdullah d'origine arménienne furent célèbres dans tout l'Empire ottoman et jusqu'en Europe où ils participèrent aux expositions universelles de 1867 et 1878. Antonio Beato (1833-1907), d'origine italienne et britannique, est un des premiers photographes à réaliser des vues panoramiques de l'architecture et des paysages méditerranéens. Pascal Sébah (1823-1886) est un photographe français qui a travaillé dans l'Empire ottoman, en particulier à Istanbul et au Caire. On joint 3 photographies signées Henri Béchard.

Size approx. 200 x 280 mm. 18 of the photographs are signed by Zangaki, 4 by Sébah, 5 by Legekian, 6 by Bonfils, 3 by Beato, 3 by Arnoux and 1 by Abdoullah. Most are numbered and with a title caption in the negative. Two unsigned pictures seem to be of a much earlier date. A complete list of the pictures, with photo number and title captions, in format Excell, can be had upon e-mail request (we don't send pictures, but of the outside of the album). The photographs don't show any fading or soiling. The album with the photographs is in near pristine state. Most of these albums were bound in the oblong format. An in-folio album in this size and this fine condition is very rare. We calculate an approx. price of 80 Euro per picture. The pictures show a variety of views : the Canal of Suez , with identified ships, Port Said, the piramides, the Sphinx, Abou Simbel, Alexandria, Karnak, crocodile hunting.
