Clean, bright and sharp, cloth bright and handsome with some light shelfwear and bumping, internally clean, florid ink gift inscription to front flyleaf; in a strong and good looking dustjacket with some light wear to extremities, discreeet pencil ownership to front panel, a little soiling here and there, and some largely unnecessary spots of tape reinforcement to the verso. A very good, superior copy indeed. Sack's attempt to re-package and "translate" the events of the Russian Revolution, and the brutality leading up to it, for American eyes and ears. From his position as the Director of the Russian Information Bureau in the US, Sack begins with the Decembrists of the 1820, all the way through to the March Revolution of 1917, via a detailed and heavily illustrated history of the various Duma, attempting to portray not only the idealistic fidelity and fervour of the revolutionary Russian mindset, and the sacrifices of those seeking to build a 'better' future for Russia, but also the inevitability and rightness of the eventual march Revolution; followed by the second section of the book which details what has been happening post-revolution, and the great initiatives afoot to build a brave post-Imperial future.
