First Edition [Hodder & Stoughton, London, 1934]; xvi, 244 pages; green boards, gold titling to spine, v. minor insect damage to cloth, map endpapers, page block age-toned, endpapers foxed, some faint spots internally, a very good copy; in like illustrated dustjacket, bumped & chipped with 1cm loss at spine top, small insect holes at rear, foxed verso . With 49 photographic plates, most photographs taken by Cameron. The Rio Negro was obtained from the defeated German Navy after WWI & it's first duty as a British Transport was the embarkation of Australian troops [1919]. In early 1920, it was rerouted to the Black Sea & rescued approximately 1,400 White Russians from Odessa & Sebastopol whilst under Bolshevik attack.
