The Rio Negro was obtained from the defeated German Navy after WWI & it's first duty as a British Transport was the embarkation of Australian troops [1919] . In early 1920, it was rerouted to the Black Sea & rescued approximately 1,400 White Russians from Odessa & Sebastopol whilst under Bolshevik attack. Rare personal account written from the diary of the ship's Captain.
