In vielen Lehrbiichern der medizinischen Entomologie (z. B. MARTINI 1952, PIEKARSKI 1954, WEYER & ZUMPT 1966, ZUMPT 1966, 1968) wird auf die medizinisch wichtige Bedeutung der Unter familie der Muscinae (wie auch der Stomoxyinae und Fanniinae) hin gewiesen. Die Muscinae besitzen im Gegensatz zu den Stomoxyinae keinen Stechrussel, vielmehr zeichnen sie sich in der Regel durch leckend-saugende Mundwerkzeuge aus, mit deren Hilfe sie geloste Stoffe aufnehmen. Fiir die Muscinae der palaarktischen Region lieferte HENNIG (1963a, 1963b, 1964) eine zusammenhangende Bearbeitung mit Bestimmungs tabellen. Nachdem hier ein gewisser AbschluB er reicht war, wurde durch NEEF (1956, 1963, 1964, 1968) und CZAJKA (1965) mit ihren Mitarbeitern im groBmaBstablichen Bereich ein neuer Akzent gesetzt, der seinen Niederschlag in der 'Naturraumlichen Ordnung', d. h. der Arbeit auf kleinster Flache in der topologischen Dimension, fand. An dieser Stelle ruckt das Problem der gleichwertigen Erfassung aller Partial komplexe mit den jeweils angemessenen Methoden in den Blickpunkt. Auf die Zusammenfassung des reprasentativen Lehrbuchs 'Grund lagen der marxistischen Philosophie', die ich 1959 unter dem Titel 'Die dogmatischen Grundlagen der sowjetischen Philosophie' vorgelegt habe, folgt nun ein Auszug aus dem in der Sowjetunion Ende 1959 erschienenen und seitdem in mehreren Erganzungsauflagen weit verbreiteten Werk 'Grundlagen des Marxismus-Leninismus'.l Es ist dies eine Kollektiv arbeit, von rund 40 sowjetischen Philosophen, Soziologen, Okonomen, Programmtheoretikern und Propagandisten unter der Leitung von O. V. Kuusinen (Mitglied des KPdSU-Prasidiums) verfaBt. Von einigen Erlauterungen abgesehen, haben wir uns darauf beschrankt, die uns am wichtigsten erscheinenden Partien des Originaltexts in einer eigenen Ubersetzung wiederzugeben, um ein ebenso authentisches wie 2 handliches Informationsmaterial zur Verfligung zu haben, das uns bei den sowjetologischen Kursen in unserem Institut helfen solI. Die philo sophischen Abschnitte (1 und 2) sind zugunsten der nichtphilosophischen sehr knapp gehalten, well die Zusammenfassung der 'Grundlagen der marxistischen Philosophie' (in denen im wesentlichen dasselbe, nur ausflihrlicher gesagt ist) bereits vorliegt. Da aber das Lastentragen durch den Menschen in vielen Gebieten der Erde immer mehr durch technische Hilfsmittel ersetzt wird, diirfte es bald nicht mehr moglich sein, die verschiedenen Traggebrauche zu erfassen. Dies ist jedoch aus Dokumentationsgrtinden wichtig. So stellt diese Arbeit einen ersten, sicher noch unvollstandigen Versuch dar, das Lastentragen durch den Menschen auf der Erde naher zu untersuchen. Andere mogen ermuntert werden, an diesem Problem weiterzuarbeiten, bevor diese fUr verschiedene Wissenschaftszweige interessante menschliche Tatigkeit vollends durch technische Mittel ersetzt ist. The speakers at the Symposium were all eminent European hysteroscopists; the most up-to-date information was presented, assuring the current nature of the scientific data. Much of the credit for the introduction of this technique into analytical practice at the l 2 end of the 1950s is due to E. This is undoubtedly a very important analytical technique utilizing the specific separa tion properties of a large number of sorbents and the possibility of regulating 4 the flow-rate of the mobile phase by adjusting the pressure ¿ Standardization of the experimental conditions is simpler in HPLC than in TLC, where the activity of the sorbent and flow-rate of the eitlent in the thin layer depend markedly on the relative humidity of the laboratory atmosphere and on the composition of the gaseous phase in the elution chamber. The present tomograph makes reconstruc tions at intervals of 20 ms. Because of a lack of clear (intramural) landmarks (except the roots of the papillairy muscle), it is difficult to pinpoint spatial trajectories of particular points in the heart. Therefore, a second method was developed of injecting radiopaque markers in the heart and following their motion patterns during the cardiac cycle with help of a biplane X-ray equipment. The data obtained with both methods can be implemented in our finite element model of the heart to compute intramural stresses and strains. The results obtained sofar with the extended Darcy equation to account for the interaction of blood rheology and tissue mechanics look promising. Further testing with more sophisticated subjects than mentioned in Figure 9 is required before it will be implemented in our finite element model of the heart. We conclude that analysis of regional cardiac function, including regional myocardial blood flow, requires still a major research effort but the results obtained sofar justify, to our opinion, a continuation in this direction. As synonym of unselectivity, free radical reactions were considered of poor use in the synthesis of fine chemicals or sophisticated molecules, where a high selectivity is an essential condition for the success, or in the involvement of biological processes. Within the last 15 years, however, an authentic explosion of synthetic applications of free radical reactions occurred; they have gained a remarkable position among the selective methods of synthesis. At the same time the great importance of free radical reactions in fundamental biological processes and in the metabolism of drugs has been recognized. Thus a specialized meeting on these topics was generally felt appropriate. D/V Glomar Challenger started her Leg Ion 20 July, 1968 from Orange, Texas to implement the Deep Sea Drilling Project. The timing almost coincided with the proposal period of the plate tectonics. After carrying out a few legs of the drilling operations, the results obtained by D I V Glomar Challenger well proved the rightness of the newly proposed theories of the ocean floor spreading and the plate tectonics.
