Paperback. Zustand: Good. Join The Whale Watchers on an unforgettable summer holiday adventure that raises awareness of the key role that whales play in climate change and explains how readers can help protect whales and their environment by reducing single use plastics and embracing a more sustainable reuse culture. It's the first day of summer holidays and Finn can't believe his marine biologist mum is dragging him and his little brother Jesse off to miserable, rainy Scotland to study the whales that live there. Finn longs to be somewhere hot, lying by a hotel pool with his headphones on. He's sick of his mum's work, and of the knot in his stomach that tightens whenever he thinks about her hopeless cause - beautiful sea creatures endangered by a plastic-polluted ocean. But when a girl with binoculars round her neck and a dog at her heels takes Finn and Jesse to her secret lookout point, Finn soon finds himself swept up in an unforgettable adventure. But can he find hope too? Your support helps this book give back: Increasing awareness, creating change and donating back to the cause Commissioned by BRITA, to raise funds for their partner WDC (Whale and Dolphin Conservation) the leading charity dedicated to the protection of whales and dolphins, who will receive a share of the profits. Amberin Huq (illustrator).…

Paperback. Zustand: Good. Life Continues on Little Puddle Pond Grandpa Geezer Goose, affectionately called Grampy, was the oldest goose on Little Puddle Pond. Grampy, a legendary storyteller, knew every goose and gosling on the pond and was loved by all. Grampy displayed his zest for fun when he taught the goslings how to do a soaring-swirling-somersault dive into a gigantic pile of leaves Harry Honker and Professor Foray were impressed by Grampy's gusto, especially for a goose his age As autumn days grew colder, the flock learned of Grampy's terrible tuckered-out tiredness. Everyone pitched in to help their beloved Grampy. Meanwhile, Grampy groomed Mother Goose to become the pond's new storyteller. Grampy made a promise to watch over Little Puddle Pond after he was gone and to send a sign meant to lighten their hearts. Favorite stories about Grampy are still told today, for the flock will never forget Grampy and how he was always young at heart.…

Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. A feast for lovers of American literature-the work of our greatest poet, redesigned and relaunched for a new generation of readers No poet is more emblematically American than Robert Frost. From "The Road Not Taken" to "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening," he refined and even defined our sense of what poetry is and what it can do. T. S. Eliot judged him "the most eminent, the most distinguished Anglo-American poet now living," and he is the only writer in history to have been awarded four Pulitzer Prizes. Henry Holt is proud to announce the republication of four editions of Frost's most beloved work for a new generation of poets and readers. You Come Too A collection of poems selected by Frost himself to be read and enjoyed by all readers, young and old.…

Paperback. Zustand: Good. Barbed wire cuts across more than just property, war and politics. This most vicious tool of control has played a critical role in the modern experience, be it territorial expansion or the settlement of local and international conflicts. However, it has other histories: those constructed through image and text in the arts, media and popular culture. These representations - in painting, photography, poetry, personal memoirs, cartoons, novels, advertisements and film - have never before been critically examined. In this book, Alan Krell investigates the place barbed wire holds in the social imagination. Invented in France in 1860, barbed wire was developed independently in the USA, where it was used to control livestock on the Great Plains, both to keep out and keep in. Promoted as the Ideal Fence, barbed wire's menacing qualities were soon made manifest. The epithet, The Devil's Rope, anticipated its transformation into a tool of war in the late 19th and early 20th century. Henceforth, it would become synonymous with repression. Barbed wire's conflicting character makes it an appropriate symbol of modernity, and Krell shows how the use of this symbolism in contemporary art has given barbed wire meanings beyond the historical and political realms. …
