Monolingual dictionary works well for advanced learners. In fact, the unknown words advanced learners encounter are usually more complicated that they need more complicated explanations. Whereas Bilingual dictionary works well for beginners, because they become able to research and translate words from all parts of speech utilizing a bilingual dictionary. It enhances their confidence level and increases their vocabulary on their own in a short period of time.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 20 pp. Englisch.

Cunningham¿s composed his work is composed of three interlacing parts, entitled ¿Mrs Woolf¿, ¿Mrs Dalloway¿ and ¿Mrs Brown¿. This fact hints at the possibility of his wanting to point out some relations between the authoress and her fictive offspring. To get a most objective picture of how Virginia Woolf really was, I also used her diary edited by Anne Oliver Bell, and gave the information derived from there priority in completing this term paper.Furthermore, I will compare Michael Cunningham¿s version of Virginia Woolf with descriptions of her by people that were close to her: Virginiäs husband Leonard Woolf and her nephew Quentin Bell. When comparing Cunningham¿s novel with Virginia Woolf¿s diary I found that there were so many interesting points I was reluctant to suppress that I decided to shorten my inquiries into the other two books in order not to go beyond a reasonable volume of this paper.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 20 pp. Englisch.

(¿) Nobody (¿) will deny that it is the function of the theatre to reflect the horrific undercurrents of contemporary life. But it cannot be allowed, even in the name of freedom of speech, to do so without aim, purpose or meaning.' '[The play] isn¿t just disgusting, it¿s pathetic (¿) a lazy, tawdry piece of work without an idea in its head beyond an adolescent desire to shock.'Accusations like these give evidence of how emotional, outraged, and hysterical theatre critics react when challenged by unexpectedly shocking and indigestible performances. It may come as a surprise that the above extracts are neither part of one single critique, nor do they refer to one single play. The first quote refers to Edward Bond¿s Saved (1965), whereas the second one refers to the late Sarah Kane¿s Blasted (1995). Not incidentally, both playwrights were accused by numerous irritated critics of committing the same unacceptable affront: They were reproached for depicting the most disgusting forms of violence on stage, merely for the sake of paying tribute to violence itself. .¿Violence shapes and ob sesses our society, and if we do not stop being violent we have no future (¿) It would be immoral not to write about violence¿ (Bond 1978: 3). Although accepting and in fact admiring Bond¿s decision to comment on his own work, Sarah Kane was always very reluctant about making ¿authorised¿ statements concerning her work. Nevertheless, she did provide equally comprehensible or even convincing reasons for putting violence on stage: ¿If you are saying you can¿t represent something, you are saying you can¿t talk about it, you are denying its existence, and that¿s an extraordinarily ignorant thing to do.¿Yet, paradoxical as it might seem, considering this apparent commitment to the representation of violence, violence is only a marginal topic in all of Kane¿s plays. .Based on an analysis of the 1998 play Cleansed, this paper aims at a reassessment and revaluation of Sarah Kane¿s work: Violence ¿ both physical and emotional ¿ is an important ingredient, and yet only a minor theme in the plays. It is dominated by the all-encompassing theme of love. Love and violence, however, are not examined as two separate individual experiences. On the contrary, it is their overlapping that is scrutinised.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 28 pp. Englisch.

With a financial sector that in regional comparison is already fairly well developed, Ghanäs microfinance sector is one of the most vibrant of the continent. Mixmarket (2011) lists $131.2 million of total loans, distributed among 358,717 active borrowers, for 2009. For the same year, 1.3 million private lenders are estimated to hold in total $140.2 million in deposits in Ghana. This report examines the microfinance institution (MFI) ¿Kraban Support Foundation¿ (KSF). This small organization, founded in 1996, serves as a case study for applying microfinance-adjusted analytical assessment tools. This is done from the perspective of a potential investor or donor of funds. The report is structured the following: First, we will give a brief overview of the microfinance operational environment in Ghana to lay the basis for the analysis. Secondly, we will present KSF with its history, mission, and current situation. This qualitative assessment will then be furthered by applying the ¿CAMEL¿ methodology which is tailored to microfinance institutions. By looking at capital adequacy, asset quality, management, earnings, and liquidity risk, we aim at providing a comprehensive picture of the MFI¿s health despite the very limited data available. Furthermore, we attempt to complement the analysis by using Accion¿s Social Indicators as far as information about KSF could be obtained. In a concluding summary, we will state which results the assessment yielded, and more importantly, what our investment decision as prospective investor or donor would be.BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 20 pp. Englisch.

(Eckert & Mc-Connell-Ginet 2003). Butler agrees that gender is the cultural meaning of the sexed body but points out that the sexed body must not match with the biological sex. What this means is that the category ¿women¿ can contain people with a male and a female body, it is the same with the classification ¿men¿. For Butler, sex or the sexed body is a cultural defined category of gender (Butler 1990).There is lots of research in the field of gender differences in language use. This essay looked at varieties between the genders in verbal and nonverbal communication with the aim to find out which variables characterize the language use of each gender. In the field of talkativeness the researchers got opposite results, therefore nothing can be said about which gender has a larger amount of the conversation. Looking at the other points of comparison between the genders, it could be detected that woman use more affiliative speech which includes the use of different stylistic devices to avoid making a clear statements. Besides, the observation of their visual behaviour showed that women use their view for orientation and as a source for information (e.g. about their communication partner). Furthermore, they use eye contact for getting a feedback about their own behaviour from their communication partner, feeling uncomfortable when they can¿t see their opposite. In addition women are more involved, use more expressions and feel easily embarrassed. Overall these results indicate unambiguously that women have a submissive communication style. Men on the contrary, use affiliative speech and directives. They have a more passive visual behaviour which is mainly lead by the visual input, the researchers could not observe men looking around for feedback about their behavior. Besides, men are more socially, tireless and relaxed. Looking at this result it could be detected men having a dominate communication style.BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 24 pp. Englisch.

As the paper uses the two theories of neo-realism and neo-liberalism to investigate the project, it examines the pipeline from two different viewpoints. In this sense, two main perspectives are outlined, namely Nordstream as a Pan-European project and Nordstream as a dividing factor for Europe. The aim of this twofold approach is not to find the ultimate truth concerning the pipeline but rather to reveal that such a project can be viewed completely different depending on the geopolitical and historical position of the observer. Therefore, this paper does not see the Nordstream project from the lens of one theoretical approach only, but rather uses the two IR theories complementary to establish a deeper understanding of the pipeline's geopolitics.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 28 pp. Englisch.

Of those arrests, 373 were for violent crimes ¿ an increase of 33 over the previous season. On the other hand, 67% of matches were problem-free and did not result in any arrest. Instead, 60% of football-related arrests took place outside or away from the football stadia (Home Office, 2008). These statistics show that football violence is at least remarkable enough to draw attention of government departments and statisticians. In the past decades, numerous scholars have tried to analyse the roots and dynamics of this violent fan behaviour (Dunning, 2000) that has been labelled ¿Hooliganism¿. The name-giving implies that football-related violence is considered as more than just some weekly disturbances. It is regarded as a social phenomenon which needs to be observed, investigated, and defined which can eventually lead to an understanding of and response to this behaviour. In our paper we will expose to what extent this phenomenon can be classified as a social movement. Before, we will look at the rise and growth of Hooliganism exemplifying it with some extreme occurrences. We are going to describe Hooligan behaviour and the people who engage in it trying to pin point typical characteristics and motivations of Hooligans. Doing that we want to justify that Hooliganism can be understood as a social movement which will allow us to apply different social movement models on Hooliganism. In order to arrive at the rationale of Hooliganism a descriptive definition is necessary which will give the further analyses and interpretation a basic framework. With several similar definitions of Hooliganism to choose from, the one meaning that we are going to use as a point of departure terms Hooliganism as ¿competitive violence of socially organized fan groups in football, principally directed against opposing fan groups¿ (Spaaij, 2006, p. 11).Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 28 pp. Englisch.

In the field of many social networks, it is Facebook that stands for a whole branch. And although users in the United States seem to visit Facebook less in beginning 2011 (AFP, 2011), the Palo Alto based company still reportedly has 600 million monthly active users (Carlson, 2011) and is therefore by far the worlds¿ leading SNS.Besides of communicating in the sense of sending text messages, SNS (and especially Facebook) allow their users to interact with other people, companies and public persons like politicians or artists. There are multiple new means of interaction, which range from men-tioned text messages to video and picture posting in various channels, separated by the amount of publicity that wants to be reached. Most of these means of interaction are related to one person or group which is addressed by the messages. Being a member of SNS often includes the presentation of your own person using a profile. Therefore, communi-cating and interacting on SNS includes a personal sphere, which may be related direct to the users¿ profile or indirect to the users¿ statements published.Consequently to these assumptions, using SNS is able to directly affect the users¿ mood and emotions. This research projects aims to investigate, by which kind and to what extent the usage of SNS influences its users daily live and their well-being in general. SNS are mostly seen as a positive extent of our modern lifestyle, but there might be negative ef-fects on users as well. The following examples for behaviour influenced by SNS may illustrate the research pur-pose. More introvert people might see SNS as a chance to unclench themselves, while ex-trovert people are dissatisfied with the amount of reactions they receive. Culture, this work claims, is man-made and tends, on the one hand, to secure the predominant social practises, its function is to stabilise the existing order; on the other hand, it is an expression of what its members aspire to be. The notions of ¿Orientalism¿ (how the West sees the East) and ¿Asian values¿ (how Asia sees herself) are explored before criteria such as rationality, justice, democracy, individual liberty, separation of church and state, and tolerance, that are generally perceived as European, but also as Western, are examined. Despite them having the same roots, European and Western values vary not inconsiderably because they are interpreted (and practised) not in the same way in Europe and in the US. The reason (also for the differences between Eastern and Western values), it is claimed, lies in the politics of power: differences in values are emphasised and thus enforced for political purposes. Furthermore, cultural values, it is argued, are not ¿naturally¿ there, they are constructed ideologies and need to be put back in their place for it is our natural commonalities that (should) essentially matter.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 36 pp. Englisch.

Schubert was the incarnation of German ¿republican foreign policy¿ in the 1920s, which had abandoned power politics and stressed the importance of economics and trade, negotiations and cooperation instead. He was the distinguished person in the Auswärtiges Amt, which from the beginning called and pursued a coherent and steady policy of understanding and accommodation with the Western powers (United States, Great Britain, and France). Schubert knew that Germany would only be able to regain its former great power status if it succeeded to gain the trust and acceptance of the other powers through its cooperation and reliability. In this regard, he put all his strength and efforts in the service of an operational and professional Foreign Office to direct its policy towards this end. However, German ¿republican foreign policy¿ and the emphasis of cooperation with the Western countries is highly connected with the person of Gustav Stresemann, Chancellor and Foreign Minister of the Weimar Republic from 1923-1929. Throughout the historiography on Weimar foreign policy, he receives all credit for a policy of modus vivendi with the Western powers and the special relationship that Germany established with the United States in particular after 1924. It is also well known that the Secretary of State, Carl von Schubert, was his right hand and that both complemented each other in the endeavour to bring Germany out of its international isolation and make it a respectable and reliable member of the concert of Europe. If Stresemann was the public face of this new policy, then Schubert was probably the backroom engineer of this strategy. As a duumvirate among the German foreign policy elite, they were responsible for the policies that led to the Dawes-Plan in 1924, Treaty of Locarno in 1925, and Germany¿s admission to the League of Nations in 1926, and finally Germany¿s accession to the Kellogg-Briand Pact in 1928.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 36 pp. Englisch.

The German speakers will certainly also know the German equivalent ¿Was Hänschen nicht lernt, lernt Hans nimmermehr.¿ Do these proverbs also apply to the acquisition of a second language Are young learners trees that ¿must be bent¿ before they are too old to reach a certain language proficiency In first and second language research, the concept of a ¿critical period¿ respectively of a ¿sensitive period¿ was developed to explain probable advantages of children in the process of language acquisition. The aim of this term paper is to find out whether there is a sensitive period for second language learning and to explore possible explanatory approaches.Within this research, the ¿Critical Period Hypothesis¿ (CPH) represents the major focus. According to this hypothesis, ¿there is a period during which language acquisition is easy and complete (i.e. native-speaker ability is achieved) and beyond which it is difficult and typically incomplete¿ (ELLIS, 1997: 67). This means, it is assumed that language learners must begin at an early age to learn a language in order to reach native-like proficiency.Generally, empirical data from course books, handbook articles and journal articles as well as commentaries by different authors are used in order to follow the research question up. First, a framework concerning the origins of the idea of a sensitive period from first language acquisition, and the clarification of particular terms will be created. Then, the distinction between possible advantages of young learners in natural as well as instructional settings will be of interest. The findings on a critical or sensitive period have also found their ways into the pedagogical practice. It is obvious that especially bilingual kindergartens, that promote an early start in language learning in general, will somehow refer to the idea of a sensitive period in second language acquisition. Therefore, the second part of this term paper will present an analysis of pedagogical concepts of these kinds of day care institutions with respect to the integration of this idea. Literature remains a consistent tool in the representation, comprehension and interpretation of fields of human endeavour such as religion, class struggle, politics, human situations, social conflicts and Gender relations. No wonder then, gender relations, especially feminism has laid hold on literature as a veritable machinery for gender activism Men discovered the gold mine in literature quite early and for ages tapped its resources to carve a niche for the male gender in politics, culture and religion. At the same time the male gender used the resources of literature and criticism to invent prejudices, stereotypes and superstitious beliefs and heaped them on the female gender. While women laboured under this burden for ages, men were busy upstaging them in every field of life. Few instances have however existed where certain female figures due to their exalted royal, military, economics and cultic backgrounds have through individual efforts raised their heads above water in their respective societies and eras. Literature has equally recorded cases where powerful women in various races have astutely and subtly cornered for themselves rights and priviledges which ordinary women and even ordinary men could never dream of. Such positions were like personal identity cards which neither outlived them nor were enjoyed by other women during and after their lifetime. These examples are today literature, in history and literary achieves. [.]Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 24 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 1995 in the subject American Studies - Linguistics, grade: 2,0, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Englische Philologie), course: Language and Identity, language: English, abstract: 1. Introduction The linguistic situation of Canadian identity has been subject of numerous debates and still there seems to be no real agreement on certain subject matters. Experts say that 'for historical reasons, Canadian English [is] the type of English associated with Southern Ontario, formerly Upper Canada, [that] has become the basis for a national norm, an imperfectly described but recognized standard across Canada. As such, it . has spread widely across the country, to be heard with increasing frequency among the educated, non-regionalized young in every province from the Ottowa River to the Pacific, including Newfoundland.' However, opinions differ as to what really constitutes the uniqueness of Canadian English. The problem of a separate Canadian linguistic identity becomes best apparent in the various ways in which Canadian English has been defined by linguists as quoted by Görlach: 'Canadian English is a fairly recent hybrid which resembles American English in some respects and British English in other while exhibiting much that is singularly Canadian. It is, in fact, the composite of these characteristics which gives Canadian English its unique identity.' (Avis 1973:43) 'Canadian English . is not a composite of archaic or rustic features or a potpourri of British and American speechways but a true national language.' (Bailey 1982:152) This paper does not focus on the attempt to reconcile opposing views, but rather tries to show how far the Canadian English is both like and unlike American English as it resembles and differs from British English, yet, at the same time is distinctively Canadian, exisiting 'in its own rights and [owing] its existence to the Canadians who have made it what it is.' However, in their struggle for a distinct linguistic identity 'Canadians tread an . apparently arbitrary path between British and American usage,' thus Orkin writes, 'with a strong leaning toward the American pattern.' Though the development of Canadian English towards a distinct linguistic identity is considered to be 'not yet complete,' it is the aim of the following to introduce the main linguistic characteristics of Canadian speech, focusing on the impossibility of separating phonological and grammatical Canadian features from the British and, especially, American influence.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 36 pp. Englisch.

This drastic disaster ended America as it was known before 9/11 and overwhelmed its inhabitants with tragedy, terror and fear, leaving behind an overpowering numbness that will express itself through flags flying at half-mast, millions of shattered individuals, repetitive pictures of horror in the media and attempts to handle the unbearable through literature. In Foer¿s Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (for shortening reasons from now on referred to as EL&IC) the nine-year-old protagonist Oskar Schell suffers from the loss of his dear father Thomas Schell Jr. who died on 11 September in the restaurant Windows of the World located in the north tower of the World Trade Center. This paper will show how Foer¿s three main characters in EL&IC are portrayed as survivors of trauma, what experiences and guilt they suffer from and how they deal with these on the level of language, action and image. Referring to trauma theory this text will prove that each of the three characters has a different way of coping with the traumatic experiences they faced (in the case of the grandparents even two experiences are taken into consideration) and to what extend a resolution of trauma is achieved by them. The unconventional style of narration and design of EL&IC, its inclusion of blankness and blackness and its constant use of pictures through Thomas Sr.¿s daybooks as well as Oskar¿s Stuff that Happened to Me, create a collage-like character of the novel that resembles the structure of trauma which will also be discussed in this paper.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 40 pp. Englisch.

Van Rijckeghem¿s and Weder¿s model of the fair wage hypothesis will be first explained in this paper and then used on a cross-sectional study of 29 countries and on data from within Russia between the years 2001 ¿ 2005. In doing so, Occam¿s Razor will be applied by only analysing the effects of wages on corruption, ignoring all historic and institutional aspects of a particular country. The results do not prove the fair wage hypothesis beyond doubt, although some evidence point that satisfactory wages will reduce corruption.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 28 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,3, University of Augsburg, language: English, abstract: It is a well-known fact that in the past decades globalization has taken international trade to another level, i.e. there are more and more companies involved in international business, importing and exporting at a higher level than ever before. From the scientific point of view though there have been made observations concerning a specific kind of companies whose international activities seem to contradict the traditional, incremental models of the internationalization process of a firm. These traditional theories assume that just after having established a certain domestic market position and having gathered enough business experience the internationalization process of the firm begins (cf. Uppsala-Modell: Johanson and Vahlne, 1977, 1990). The contradiction though consists in the fact that the mentioned specific kind of companies goes international right from its inception and seems to perceive the whole world as one single market which can be entered and supplied just as easy as the domestic one (Oviatt and McDougall, 1994). So what will be discussed in this paper is in general the phenomenon of the so-called born globals (Rennie, 1993) and in specific the differences that might exist between those born globals and other young traditional internationalizing companies.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 24 pp. Englisch.

While a stock split seems to be just a cosmetic corporate event, it is often claimed that the motivation to carry out a stock split is to signal future profitability or to bring the share price to a preferred trading-range. Additionally there are many papers published, where the impact of a stock split on liquidity and institutional ownership is examined. Some results of these studies are briefly discussed in the Literature Review. Most researchers calculate their abnormal returns with the market model by using the most common index in their economy. In this paper, I check whether sector-indices fit the data better than the CDAX does. In some cases, the sector-indices describe the stock returns better. Another topic of event studies that researchers of the finance area often deal with is whether the assumptions of the market model established by Fama, Fisher, Jensen and Roll (1969) do hold for daily stock returns. I will discuss some of the weaknesses when applied to financial time series and I present two models which can improve the efficiency of the model.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 24 pp. Englisch.

It documents a consumption dip of between seven and 17% on average. However, according to life cycle theory, households smooth marginal utility ofconsumption across time periods. The discrepancy between the predictions of theory and empirical findings is known as the retirement-consumption puzzle. A deeper knowledge on retirement saving behavior is of interest for at least three reasons. First, it facilitates the testing of theoretical models like the life cycle hypothesis. Thereby, it helps to understand if and by how far individuals plan their retirement in a rational manner. Second, [.] The task of this paper is to assess both theory and empirical evidence of the retirement consumption puzzle. It, therefore, discusses the basic characteristics of standard life cycle theory in section 2. Section 3 examines the main determinants of the puzzle and perspectives from which the puzzle has been investigated. Neuware -Project Report from the year 2002 in the subject Agrarian Studies, National Research Center - Agricultral and Biological Research Devision (-), language: English, abstract: High planting density is considered one of the modern management systems in new fruit orchards. Pruning and population adjustment are some of the main way to approach high productivity and good fruit quality under the modern management systems.Pruning is defined as the management of plant structure and fruiting wood and it is considered one of the main factors affecting fruit trees production. There are many objectives for pruning i.e. controlling the direction of growth, developing a strong framework, controlling the amount of growth, improved productiveness, improving quality product, utilizing space efficiently and increasing the usefulness of plant. There are three main systems of fruit trees training (i) Central leader system, (ii) Modified leader system, (iii) Open center or vase system. Also there are several kinds of pruning i.e. heading back and thinning out, fine and coarse pruning and root pruning. However, it is important to select the suitable training system and kind of pruning according to the target of the pruning to reach optimum vegetative growth and maximum yield with high fruit quality. On the other hand, population adjustment (plant distribution or planting density) is very important factor affecting fruit trees production. We can reach the optimum usefulness of the planted area by using best population adjustment of trees in the plantation. Trees can be planted using different systems:- triangle, rectangle, square system¿.etc. On the other side, presence of pollinator trees through the orchard is very important for many fruit trees. Pollinator can be planted either in (1) Complete along rows, as one row of pollinator per two or four rows of the main cultivar. (2) The second tree in the second row. (3) The third tree in the third row. (4) Across rows through the orchard. On the other hand, good plant distribution is very helpful for mechanical serves in the plantationWe can say that the key objective in planning a new orchard should be to maximize yield in the early years and still effectively produce larger yield of high quality fruits in the next years. This may be happened by utilizing space efficiently and increasing the usefulness of plant using the suitable training system, kind of pruning, also good population adjustment of the trees in the orchard beside the importance of the other factors affecting production process.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 28 pp. Englisch.

The oil bonanzas, however, negatively affected the development in the two countries, which show minimal economic growth and political instability throughout the last thirty years. The paradoxical phenomenon can be explained with the resource curse theory. This paper starts with determining the extent of the resource curse and its forms of appearance in both countries. In a second step, it investigates good governance trends in Ecuador and Venezuela in recent years, using the World Bank indicators as guideline. This is done in order to test the hypothesis whether the current left-oriented governments are better able to tame the resource curse with their ¿innovative¿ political ideology. The findings display a downward development in good governance since presidents rule who advocate ¿Socialism of the 21st century¿. In fact, such an ideology is no remedy to the resource curse but tends to reinforce the negative economic situation, which in return is likely to deteriorate good governance even further. As the results are similar in both countries, one can possibly attribute the described trend to that form of governance in a more generalized manner.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 36 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2011 in the subject Mathematics - Number Theory, grade: Postgraduate, University of Sheffield, language: English, abstract: This document is a continuation of my Semester 1 project on class field theory. In the previous work, we made a rounded exposition of the fundamentals of class field theory but in order to preserve the document length the main proofs had to be skipped. We concentrate on filling in the gaps in this second installment. Due to the need to complete the arguments left open last semester and the need for applications this part of the project is a little longer than it should have been. It was not mentioned in the previous project but the class field theory we are studying here is global class field theory. There is such a thing as local class field theory in which we study the Abelian extensions of local fields (essentially fields that arise as completions of a number field with respect to places). Actually we touch on these ideas slightly in this project but never quite get to de_ning a local Artin map and looking at the local analogues of the main theorems of global class field theory. For those wanting to continue on to study local class field theory, consider Chapter 7 of [2] To start off this project we shall first restate the main de_nitions and theorems. This will be brief and those wanting to remind themselves of the details should consult my Semester 1 project. There will be very little motivation or technical results here since this was the purpose of the work done previously. We then set out to prove the main theorems of class field theory. With our present knowledge this would not be a simple task and we soon find that we first have to invent or discover new concepts such as the idele group and the corresponding idele class group. These are topological devices that take stock of all completions of a number eld at once. Such constructions will make the theory much easier to understand and formulate, whilst at the same time generalising the theory to all Abelian extensions. The cohomology of nite Abelian groups will be introduced and used alongside the idele theory to establish an important inequality. We use L-series in conjunction with the ideal theory to establish another important inequality. Combining the two inequalities will give a nice result that allows us to prove Artin reciprocity. In order to prove the existence theorem we resort to using Kummer n-extensions and the notion of a class eld. This middle chunk of the project will be quite technical but hopefully enjoyable and illuminating. [.]Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 52 pp. Englisch.

To do so, it first introduces the concept of Web 2.0 and discusses its relevance to online copyright infringement in the music industry. In addition, current legislative framework both at the international and E.U. level is discussed in order to provide the reader with a picture of the current enforcement system. In a number of E.U. Member States as well as outside the E.U., there have been legislative efforts to control copyright infringement online. Graduated response is one of these systems which is adopted and being implemented by a few Member States. However, there have been strong reactions by user groups against this system in that the system threatens individuals¿ fundamental rights such as right to privacy, freedom of expression and freedom to access to information. In light of these reactions, this paper argues that the efforts of legislators to introduce stricter measures are futile and limit fundamental rights. This paper suggests that the legislator, instead, should introduce an exemption into the current legislation to protect Internet users who exchange media online for noncommercial purposes. The proposed system allows for a more fair balance between copyright owners¿ exclusive rights and the fundamental rights of individuals. On the one hand, it leads to a more liberal online environment where individuals freely and legally exchange copyrighted media; on the other hand it secures the right owners¿ economic rights and thus the incentive for creation is still effective.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 64 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -Bachelor Thesis from the year 2011 in the subject Law - Penology, grade: Gut (65 Punkte), University of Portsmouth (Institute of Criminal Justice Studies), language: English, abstract: AbstractGeographic profiling is an investigative methodology that tries to determine the most probable residence of a serial offender by a geographical analysis of the majority of the crime locations (Chainey and Ratcliffe, 2005, p.27).This literature-based dissertation focuses on the efficacy of geographic profiling methods. It aims to find out if recent geographic profiling methods are really supportive to the criminal investigative process and to what extent they can contribute to solve criminal cases. As a structured literature review, it seeks to evaluate the relevant evidence about the use of geographic profiling in terms of criminal detection and practical investigative applicability. This is done by using other completed literature reviews or research reviews, including evidence from these reviews and, additionally, by reviewing the use of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) in recent criminal cases. This dissertation provides an insight into recent applications of geographic profiling and a presentation of the main profiling systems. The results of this dissertation are achieved by evaluating and comparing data from empirical research and by reviewing the evidence about the efficacy of this technique. The efficacy and relative success of the application of geographic profiling in criminal investigations are supported by presenting a range of criminal cases solved with the contribution of geographic profiling methods. On the other hand, deficiencies in geographic profiling systems and applications are shown by the presentation of several other independent studies.Overall, this dissertation concludes that the evidence reviewed suggests that geographic profiling can contribute to solve criminal cases to a crucial extent, i.e. in cases of locating the offender¿s base or predicting where the next offence location is to be found, and thus, this thesis gives strong support for the use of geographic profiling in criminal justice investigations. Finally, the evidence also points to a growing importance of predictive crime prevention applications of this technology in future.BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 60 pp. Englisch.
