Also with five official photographic prints, and a typed signed letter from the publisher containing personal remarks about second-hand books, MacDiarmid's final days and funeral, and an invitation to view a film shot on the poet's 86th birthday. Liberally illustrated with black and white photographs collected by, and in many cases taken by, the author. Publisher's navy half morocco with two raised bands, gilt titles to spine, and a gilt caricature of MacDiarmid to navy cloth over boards. Blue endpapers. With the matching blue cloth slipcase, also featuring the caricature of MacDiarmid in gilt to both sides. Light rubbing and marking to binding and slipcase. A collection of associated newspaper clippings loose to rear. Near fine. A photographic biography of the poet published to mark his eighty-fifth birthday.
