From there he goes on to England, and "we follow him from D-Day onward, through France, Holland, and Germany. We see his anguish and hopeless resignation as he turns into an automaton of murder." He is the co-founder of the law firm of Davis Goldberg & Galper PLLC, and co-founder and partner of the public relations firm Trident DMG. From 1996 to 1998, he served as a special counsel to President Bill Clinton, and was a spokesperson for the President and the White House on matters concerning campaign-finance investigations and other legal issues. The author assumed a pseudonym "to protect certain factual asylum officials (whose ill treatment of patients she observed with her own eyes) from embarrassing publicity" -- and to protect herself, as well, since she was a member of "a well-known and widely respected family," and was uncertain how they would react to her book. [The paperback edition had the much catchier title of "Madwoman." Interestingly, there is a file on this book in the Fritz Lang papers at the University of Wyoming, which suggests that he was considering a film adaptation.].
