Novel about the travails of a GI during World War II, starting in North Africa, where for a year "an overwhelming nausea consumes him as he is forced to find sleep in muck and filth, food in tins, and love in brothels." From there he goes on to England, and "we follow him from D-Day onward, through France, Holland, and Germany. We see his anguish and hopeless resignation as he turns into an automaton of murder." And so on, in the "war is Hell" vein, with comparisons invited with Stephen Crane and Erich Maria Remarque. Signed by One Author NOISBN.
