A language is a system used to facilitate communication among people. It is easy to define language in vague terms as there is a magic in the spoken word Language is one of the greatest glories of man. But to define a language with precision is far less easy than to define acid or any other chemical term. All the numerous definitions of language given by various thinkers bring out different aspects of language and supplement one another in making us understand all the facts of language. A language by which we mean a spoken language may be defined as a system of arbitrary vocal symbols by means of which human beings communicate and co operate with one another. Phonology is the organization of sounds into patterns. In order to fulfil the communicative functions languages organize their material the vocal noises into recurrent bits and pieces arranged in sound patterns. It is the study of this formal organization of languages which is known as phonology. 248 pp.

For example the nationwide telecast of independence day celebrations is mass communication whereas closed circuit telecast in a classroom or assembly hall on a topic such as eco friendly environment is not. Mass communication is directed towards a relatively large heterogeneous and anonymous audience. It is public rapid and transient. The concept of mass communication in India has undergone transformation after independence. It has become development supportive flexible and need based especially in the areas like health nutrition family welfare agriculture dairy development literacy etc. 304 pp.

Strategy may thus be defined as the pattern of an organisation's responses to its environment over time. It implies that strategy may or may not involve explicit formulation of what the organisation intends to do. The Operating Systems studied by operations research workers arise in a wide variety of practical industrial military and governmental environments it follows that the results of their research frequently make important contributions to the solution of problems of choice policy and planning that arise in these environments these contributions are characteristically made by presenting the research findings directly to the executives in charge of the operations that are studied. Thus an important goal of much operations research is assistance to executives in improving the operations under their control. 332 pp.
