In den WarenkorbFirst edition, first printing, with the loose errata sheet as issued; one of 450 copies only. Hockney began making the etchings in September 1961. His intention was to recreate the eight plates and keep the titles originally invented by William Hogarth but move the setting to New York. He finally made 35 plates, of which 19 were abandoned. Hockney suggested that Posner should write the poem, which was to be a work in it's own right and not necessarily to illustrate his engravings. The etchings were published in editions of 50 in 1963 by Editions Alecto. Also included is a catalogue of the exhibition displaying the original etchings which was held at the Print Centre, London, 3-24 December 1963. Square folio. Illustrated with 16 reduced half-tone letterpress blocks after etchings by Hockney. Original black cloth boards with slide-on plastic spine binder, lettering to front cover in grey, printed on Dual White Proven art paper. No dust jacket issued. Boards lightly rubbed, otherwise an excellent copy.
