Brown cloth binding with gold lettering and portrait of Dr. Mudd. Frontispiece portrait of Dr. Mudd. Very good condition inside and out. This copy is signed by 8 of Dr. Mudd's grandchildren on the front endpaper, Louise Mudd Arehart, Phyllis Mudd Frere, Christine Mudd Clements, Richard Mudd, Joseph Bernard Gardiner, Sarah Frances Gardiner, Mary Marjorie Gardiner, James Gardiner. Dr. Mudd is the man who set the broken leg of Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth, and was convicted of conspiracy in the murder because he did not report Booth's presence to the pursuing authorities.
