Vakil and Prof. P.R. Brahmananda as an alternative to Mahalanobis model at the time of launching the Second Five Year Plan of India. The model has been getting wide support in the academic circle. But at the official level the influence of the model has been minimal despite the poor performance of the economy and the non practical nature of the policies pursued.
