Sophisticated models have been used to fulfil the ultimate goal of development in our plans. But the basic goal is unfulfilled even today. Wage Goods Model was presented by Prof. C.N. Vakil and Prof. P.R. Brahmananda as an alternative to Mahalanobis model at the time of launching the Second Five Year Plan of India. The Wage Goods Model and its theoretical cum practical implications have been developed further by Prof. Brahmananda in his more or less continuous sequence of writings. The model has been getting wide support in the academic circle. But at the official level the influence of the model has been minimal despite the poor performance of the economy and the non practical nature of the policies pursued. The policy makers and the authorities have worked on their own hunches and intuitions. The book has evaluated the multi dimensions of the Wage Goods Model controversy in India. The book is a must for planners and policy makers scholars and students and all who have interest in development economics. 86 pp. Artikel-Nr. 62518
