Blacker served as Surveyor General of India from 1823, contributing significantly to the Trigonometrical Survey of India. He passed away in Calcutta in 1826. Known for his scientific acumen, he was buried in South Park Street Cemetery. Blacker was also an author, writing on military history and Indian culture.
