Mayer, who offered her a contact and she moved to America. Her performance in "Algiers" (1938) as well as her breathtaking beauty made her a star. Hecy, however, was far more than just a pretty face or a movie star---at the beginning of World War II, she and composer George Antheil invented a radio guidance system with frequncy-hopping ability for Allied torpedoes.
