Blackwell, Oxford, 1973. VIII,215p. Hard bound with dust wrps. Spine gilt titled. Nice copy. ?The book is remarkably clear, well written, and well organized. Yet the reader?s first reaction is one of disappointment: the title (?) promises more than it provides. This is not a definitive description of Attic Greek phonology ? but theory and facts will require further consideration ? but is a good step towards it: it will be difficult to ignore it.? (A. MORPURGO DAVIES in The Classical Review (New Series), 1976, p.87-88).…
