Thomas Godwyn D.D. (1587-20 March 1642) was an English headmaster and scholar whose first book discusses the Roman Empire and Roman History, from its city, culture, deities, games, laws, wars, etc. The second book by Godwyn details rites and ceremonies used by the Hebrews and comparing them to similar, pagan rituals and customs. The third book by Rous [1581-1689] and Bogan's [1625-1659], religious and puritan writers, covers religion, superstition, customs, burials and history of the Athenian [Greek] city states of Athens and the surrounding territory of Attica.

Erste und einzige deutsche Ausgabe von "Meditations of the Mirth of a Christian Life and the Vain Mirth of a Wicked Life" (zuerst 1653). Bogan (1625-1659) galt als hochbegabter Philologe, verfasste aber auch mehrere religiöse Werke. ".had not his (Bogan's) years been premature…ly cut short, his learning would have made a permanent mark in literature" (DNB, Bd. 5, S. 301). - 2. Pfaff (1686 - 1760) war seit 1717 Professor der Theologie in Tübingen u. seit 1720 Propst und Kanzler der Universität. Er gilt als wichtiger Wegbereiter der theologischen Aufklärung innerhalb des deutschen Protestantismus. - Text gegen Schluss etwas wasserrandig. - Der Drucker der beidenen seltenen Schriften, Christoph Erhardt (1664-1742), stammte aus Thumm im Vogtland. Er kam 1704 nach Stuttgart und arbeitete in der Druckerei von August Metzler. Von 1713 bis 1716 führt er die Druckerei für dessen Erben bis zur Übernahme durch Johann Benedikt Metzler d.Ä. Von 1722 bis 1740 war er Teilhaber und macht sich danach selbstständig. Die beiden angebotenen Drucke stammen aus der nur knapp über ein Jahr währenden Zeit als eigenständiger Drucker (s. Ute Liebert, Geschichte der Stuttgarter Kinder- und Jugendbuchverlage, S. 27).
