Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The book titled ''Imperial Federation of Great Britain and Her Colonies: In Letters'' was written by Frederick Young in 1876. It is a collection of letters that discuss the concept of imperial federation, which was a political idea that aimed to unite Great Britain and its colonies into a single federal state. The book is divided into three parts, each containing a series of letters that explore different aspects of the imperial federation idea. The first part of the book discusses the need for imperial federation, highlighting the economic and political benefits that would arise from such a union. Young argues that the current system of colonial governance is inefficient and that a federal system would allow for greater cooperation and coordination between the colonies and Great Britain. The second part of the book explores the practicalities of implementing an imperial federation. Young discusses the potential challenges and obstacles that would need to be overcome, such as the role of the monarch, the powers of the federal government, and the representation of the colonies in the federal parliament. The final part of the book looks at the potential benefits of an imperial federation for the colonies themselves. Young argues that a federal system would allow the colonies to retain their autonomy while also benefiting from the resources and protection of Great Britain.Overall, ''Imperial Federation of Great Britain and Her Colonies: In Letters'' is an insightful and thought-provoking examination of a political idea that was widely debated in the late 19th century. It provides a valuable historical perspective on the relationship between Great Britain and its colonies and the challenges of governing a vast and diverse empire. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.

Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. First Edition. 173 pages (complete). Signed by Frederick Jeppe on the half-title page as a previous owner. Jeppe was instrumental in the mapping of the Transvaal (he produced the first maps), and as Paymaster General he had the first stamps produced and the first rail mailing system installed. His sense of loyalty to the Boer republic was fluid and he supplied the British with information throughout his time with the South African Republic and until his death. Included is an untrimmed (ex-libris?) print of the Clan Kilpatrick arms. Please note that the folded map at the rear is a facsimile. all other original plates are present. A generously owned copy. The red boards are worn, scuffed, marked by handling and storage, all about. They are secure and steady. The contents have much evidence of contented use throughout. They bear the years with equanimity. Whilst the pages have marks, the (fascinating) photographic plates are clear, not in the least dulled. Occasionally the small decoration at the end of the chapters, were idly hand-coloured by a previous reader/ owner. Despite the age and user marks and wear (mild) the pages are sure, clean, clear, convivial, genial, bold, amenable, engaging. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
