Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. Hardcover. Brown leather half binding, with marbled paper boards, and gold lettering on a red field on the spine. Title page dated 1820. 298 pages. Boards are slightly scuffed and worn. Edges and corners show wear; corners are slightly bumped, and worn through to boards beneath. Top 1-1/2" of backstrip are missing; backstrip is peeling at foot of spine. Front hinge is slightly cracked. Some pencil writing on front pastedown and front free endpaper. Pages are lightly toned, with minor foxing.

Scarce hardcovers with elegant half-leather binding, no dust jackets, and non-original marbled endpapers, in very good condition. Chronology table of Mathematicians and Mechanics laid in, Volume I, with a description of the plates booklet in a pocket on the rear pastedown of Volume II. Boards are slightly scuffed, with some surface colour loss noted. Edges, corners and spine ends are bumped and rubbed. Previous owner's inscriptions on FEP of both volumes. First and last few pages are foxed, with age related tanning and the occasional mark on some of the pages, which are otherwise clear. Bindings are sound. LW. Used.
